Elevator Fight!

Meet Elevator Fight: Dominic Angelella on guitar, Khari Mateen on bass, Joe Baldacci on drums, and the yummy Zoe Kravitz with her lovely vocals. They're a Philly-based band that happens to be one of my major obsessions! I would describe their music as indie-psychedelic-rock with trippy songs like 500 Birds and daring songs like New Pussy.

The entire album Post Empire totally rocks!

The Word

"You can say anything you want, yessir, but it’s the words that sing, they soar and descend...I bow to them...I love them, I cling to them, I run them down, I bite into them, I melt them down...I love words so much...The unexpected ones...The ones I wait for greedily or stalk until, suddenly, they drop...Vowels I love...They glitter like colored stones, they leap like silver fish, they are foam, thread, metal, dew...I run after certain words...They are so beautiful that I want to fit them all into my poem...I catch them in midflight, as they buzz past, I trap them, clean them, peel them, I set myself in front of the dish, they have a crystalline texture to me, vibrant, ivory, vegetable, oily, like fruit, like algae, like agates, like olives...And I stir them, I shake them, I drink them, I gulp them down, I mash them, I garnish them, I let them go...I leave them in my poem like stalactites, like slivers of polished wood, like coals, pickings from a shipwreck, gifts from the waves...Everything exists in the word..."

The way she makes me feel is indescribable--I could call it wonderful or even sublime, but those words inadequately describe how amazing she makes me feel. The way she makes me laugh uncontrollably. The way she holds me while I'm sleeping. The way she kisses me on my forehead. The way she listens to me vent when I'm having a bad day. The way she knows how to take charge of a feisty, stubborn Aries like myself. The way she takes care of me. The way she satisfies me in every way imaginable. I love it...I love her. Now if only I could put aside my pride sometimes so she knows just how much...

Feel Me

"Observing someone without context amplifies the experience. The more we know, the less we are able to feel." --Chuck Klosterman, Eating the Dinosaur

I struggle with this. My inquiring mind combined with my trust and control issues often impede my ability to feel. Given the heartbreaking events that took place in my life last year, I guess this is expected. I want answers. I need solutions. But there's someone special in my life that has me thinking a little differently. Now I see something beautiful in the unknown--the mystery. It's desirable. It's spontaneous. It's sexy. It seduces you. And I'm finally starting to give in...to let go...to feel.
